LEGO Data Center

Data Center Made Entirely Out of LEGO

This week I wanted to share with you a video I came across of a man who built a miniature data center completely out of LEGO.

YouTube user “eduardotanaka” posted a video of his mini data center wonder early this month.  He used 5,772 pieces, 28 Minifigures, 1 LEGO Light Brick, 1 meter of fiber optic strand and spent 8 hours building his creation. The 4 minute video displays his mini creation and he explains his future addition plans of adding automatic locks using LEGO’s Mindstorms NXT programmable robotics system, as well as “facilities and security management with temperature, sound, IR and door sensors”. He is most definitely a man with a plan!

If you feel the urge to follow in his LEGO builder foot steps, there are detailed instructions on the LEGO website and can be found by searching for ‘data center’. Who knows, maybe your LEGO facility will include the features “tanaka” only thought of!

Thanks for the mention! It is always good to receive feedback. I added some security features including some door sensors, IR presence sensor, temperature sensors and security personnel that pops up when someone tries to invade it. Sorry, no roof yet (too many pieces!), so no security against flying monkeys, maybe I add a scarecrow . You can see the updated version, if you wish, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOADlNv6odM
